“Once I discovered the presence of God in worship,
I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life in that place … “
My husband Jamin and I have been married for 18 years and we have four children ages 10-17. We are a commercial fishing family here in Alaska, which means our work is seasonal. Some days I am on top of the world, and other days I am at the bottom of the laundry pile.
As a woman I have experienced the joys of motherhood, and the terrors of Post-partum depression. I have dealt with a loss of a business, and the death of dreams. I live in Alaska where being feminine is praised as long as you can also gut a fish, butcher a moose, and plow your own driveway. I have had to learn many things I never knew were in the lesson plans. I am still learning.
My own testimony spans the chasm of growing up in a broken, abusive home and finding my “home” in Jesus. It touches on the loss of a dream, and the beauty of a broken life. It journeys through burnt lasagna, frozen pipes, and desperate needs, and winds through the infinite grace and compassion of God who redeems and restores all of the broken pieces. Through all of this I discovered that the goodness of God surpasses my definitions, and is constant whether or not my feelings acknowledge it.
I am a singer, songwriter, worship leader, teacher, mother, wife, friend, and fisherman!
I have been leading worship since I was 13 years old, and find my “home” in the presence of God. This past year I have also been a teacher for the local Bible School here in Alaska called “Alaska Bible Institute” www.alaskabible.org I also teach and lead worship for churches and conferences nationally and internationally.
