Thank you Amy. You are right. It’s often the magnitude of our brokenness that expresses the greatness of God, and praise really has more substance when it comes from a heart of faith that believes despite the circumstances.

As for releasing your CD, think of all those old hymns–the ones that move us to this day. Most were not penned in the sunshine, when everything was perfect. They were written of a broken heart, through trials and tribulations. That’s what true praise is about–lifting our voice in triumph even when the skies are black and it seems our boat is capsizing.

Also, something to remember–true hypocrits typically don’t view themselves as such. The fact that you possess that check of spirit, is a good sign.

Obedience stretches us doesn’t it? It isn’t always comfortable and we certainly don’t get to control the setting or parameters of our assignments. I do know, however, that eventually our emotions will catch up with us and we will be surprised by joy, because God has promised us joy in obedience. It’s a godly discipline to obey even if we don’t “feel like it”. This will carry into every area of our life…from our work ethic to how we treat our neighbor.
Thank you for your comments Bryan. I will pray for you, that you “finish well” the task God has given you to do. It will be to His glory.

Great blog!! 🙂 Without going into a lot of detail, suffice it to say I’m going through the same thing. I’m having to help with one or two things that I really don’t like doing. I look it from this perspective: This is where God has me right now. For whatever reason, He’s forcing (yes, forcing) me to get outside of my comfort zone for the time being. Do I see it as hypocrisy?? Nah. I’m doing it out of obedience and the fact that it’s something I HAVE to do. The particular duty is only once a week and only for about a half hour. Doesn’t sound like much time, does it? I know it isn’t but I still have to grit my teeth at times and just “get through it”. I’ll send you a direct FB message with more detail. Thanks again and take care. 🙂
